Wakemusic · Android · Privacy Policy

Distribution channel:Google PlayEffective date:2026-09-24

This Privacy Policy applies to Wakemusic for Android distributed through Google Play, provided by Kaka Inc. Contact support@kakainc.com for privacy questions and requests. Other platforms and distribution channels have separate policies.

1. Music files and connected libraries

Wakemusic plays and organizes music you select on your device and, where supported by your version, music in cloud services you choose to connect. The app reads authorized audio files and metadata such as title, artist, album, duration and artwork, and keeps library indexes, preferences and necessary caches on your device.

When you connect a supported cloud service, the app uses the file information, account display information and authorization credentials needed to browse or download the music you request. Connections go directly to the provider. We do not operate an application backend to store your music library, audio files or cloud authorization credentials. You do not need to connect a cloud account to use local music features.

Google API data is used only to provide or improve requested user-facing features, in accordance with the Google API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements. It is not used for advertising targeting or training general-purpose AI models. Revoke Google access in Google account connections; other providers offer their own account controls.

2. Firebase analytics

This Android version uses Firebase, provided by Google, to understand app usage and improve features. Related data includes app-instance or installation identifiers, feature-use events, and device/app information such as device model, operating system, app version and language. The provider also processes network connection information such as IP addresses.

The information processed by Firebase components depends on enabled services, SDK configuration and system permissions. Analytics may also process the Android advertising identifier where enabled and permitted. Such identifiers are not necessarily anonymous. Android system settings let you manage advertising identifiers and related privacy choices. We do not send your audio files, cloud passwords or access tokens as analytics events.

See Firebase Privacy and Security, Google's Privacy Policy and Analytics data collection for provider details. This Android version does not integrate RevenueCat.

3. ShazamKit recognition

When you request music recognition, ShazamKit, provided by Apple and available for Android, generates an acoustic signature from the audio used for recognition and sends the signature to Apple's recognition service to obtain a match. Apple describes these signatures as non-invertible and states that ShazamKit does not share the original audio with Apple.

Recognition is separate from local playback: song-matching signatures are not needed when you do not use recognition. See ShazamKit, its Android SDK and Apple's Privacy Policy.

4. Permissions and choices

Music/audio access is used to read and play the files you authorize. Depending on Android version, access may be granted through media/storage permissions or the system file picker. Network access supports connected libraries, recognition and the Firebase services described above. Microphone permission is relevant only if your version offers microphone-based recognition and you choose that feature; recognizing an existing file does not itself require microphone access.

Manage permissions in Android's app settings and revoke cloud connections with the relevant provider. Withdrawing a necessary permission can prevent the associated feature from working, without affecting the lawfulness of earlier processing. Declining optional processing does not prevent use of basic features that do not depend on it.

5. Recipients, international processing and security

Firebase, Apple's recognition service and your selected cloud providers process information for the purposes described above. Google Play independently processes store accounts, distribution and any store transactions under its own policies. Distribution through a store does not mean all of that store's SDKs are integrated into Wakemusic. We do not sell your personal information or provide your music content to advertisers.

These providers may process data outside your country. The absence of a Kaka Inc. application backend does not mean no third-party processing occurs. Their policies explain processing locations and safeguards; where applicable law requires additional information, consent or transfer safeguards, we will meet those requirements.

We use safeguards appropriate to the processing, including access controls, transmission protection and data minimization. No system can guarantee absolute security. Keep your device and cloud accounts secure and maintain backups of important files.

6. Retention and your rights

Local library data and caches stay on your device and can be managed using available app controls or Android app-storage settings. Uninstalling does not necessarily remove shared music files, system backups, cloud copies or provider records. Manage those at their respective locations.

Firebase records are retained according to the enabled service's retention configuration and necessary purposes. Cloud files are held by your chosen provider under its policies and your settings. Support correspondence is retained only as necessary to resolve inquiries, protect the service or meet legal obligations, then deleted or anonymized. Uninstalling the app does not automatically delete all third-party records.

Depending on applicable law, you may request access, a copy, correction, deletion, restriction or objection to processing, portability, or withdrawal of consent by emailing support@kakainc.com. Include the distribution channel, app version and request scope. We will verify only the information necessary to handle the request; do not send passwords or full access tokens. We respond within the applicable legal timeframe and explain any lawful limitations. You may also contact providers about information they independently control and lodge a complaint with your competent data protection authority.

7. Support, children and updates

If you contact support, we process the email address, message and troubleshooting information you provide. Website contact forms have their own notice. Do not send unnecessary private audio, identity documents or credentials.

Wakemusic is not directed specifically to children under 13, or the higher age required by local law. A parent or guardian who believes a child's information has been improperly processed can contact us for investigation and deletion.

Policy updates will appear on this page with an effective date. We will provide appropriate notice of material changes and obtain consent again where required. This policy does not limit your statutory rights.
