How do I put lyrics inside a music file instead of keeping a separate text file?

Open the audio file in Waketag, edit its lyrics field and save the metadata into a supported file format. Reopen that saved file to confirm the words are present. Plain lyrics and synchronized lyrics are not interchangeable, and players support them differently; test the result in the app you use before applying the same approach to an entire album.

Steps to follow

1. Choose a supported audio file and check whether you need ordinary text lyrics or time-synchronized lyrics.
2. Enter or verify the words in the available lyrics field, preserving line breaks that make the text readable.
3. Save the file, reopen it and test the same copy in your playback app before editing a whole album.

Text lyrics do not create timing

Adding words does not automatically align them to playback. A player's scrolling or synchronized display depends on the lyrics data and its own support. If the text is present in Waketag but absent in the player, investigate compatibility before rewriting all your files.
